Christina Hughes
pronouns: (she/her)
As a Black, queer, neurodivergent, ciswoman who grew up in the Christian church I have lived experience with what it means to deconstruct and reconstruct identities as you develop over time. As a remarried mother to a blended family unit, I know a lot about what it feels like to be hit with a transition in life that you weren't expecting and having to figure out what's next.
It has been in the deep, sometimes painful, work of these experiences that I have been able to come into my power in these ever evolving identities. To be frank, this shit was and is not easy!
I tell you this because I step into our counseling space as a full human, connected to my own experiences and identities. These truths are why I engage from a place of curiosity, candor, humor, strength, and overwhelming optimism with my clients.

My theoretical orientations are eclectic but I gravitate toward person-centered, collaborative, and narrative based exercises. I believe in the power of our bodies in supporting our healing so I am also a certified Level II Usui Reiki practitioner and offer these as separate services for interested clients.

As a Hoodoo practitioner I am also open to incorporating your relevant religious orientations as I know they can be powerful tools in supporting your healing work.

I am provisionally licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapy Candidate (MFTC) in Colorado and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate (LMFT-A) in Texas, under the supervision of AAMFT Board Approved Supervisor, Dr. Kristin Ross.
